History of Finicity
Finicity (the brainchild of Steven Smith, Warren Rosner and Nicholas Thomas) began in 1999 under the name In2M. The company started as a way to fill the gap left by existing money management solutions. The trio saw the opportunity to develop a program to help consumers more effectively manage their cash flow and make real-time spending decisions.
Finicity’s first product (launched in 2002) was a PC-based personal finance solution that synced with Palm Pilots. It was named Mvelopes for its combination of featuring mobile functionality and being modeled after the traditional method of envelope money management. Mvelopes allowed users to access their financial data anywhere they accessed their PDA. In 2004, the company transitioned Mvelopes into a web-based application, making it the first online personal budgeting solution of its kind. Mvelopes became one of the leading personal money management solutions available and eventually garnered PC World’s 2006 World Class Award and "The 100 Best Products of Year" distinction. It was also named one of "The 4 Best Money Managers" by Success Magazine.
In 2008, Finicity expanded its scope to include its award-winning money management solution (Mvelopes) with an online financial community of both experts and everyday users.
